vikings made their woman handle the finances because they thought math is witchcraft

During a military campaign, Vlad the Impaler, the basis for Dracula, once pulled his troops out of a major engagement in a valley at dusk so that the sun was in their enemies’ eyes. Once they were over the hill, they set loose a bunch of rabid bats who flew away from the sun (towards the enemy) and attacked them, leading to significant infection in their ranks, and Vlad’s eventual victory. Because of how the bats appeared from where Vlad’s soldiers appeared to be at dusk, myth stated that the soldiers turned into bats at night, which is where the “Dracula can change into a bat” thing came from.

Scientists Learn How the Brain Avoids Blurry Vision

Thank goodness for autostabilization, the digital camera feature that compensates for movement to achieve that crystal-clear, spontaneous selfie. But even more importantly in daily life, our eyes have an ancient form of autostabilization that prevents the world from blurring by. Skinny nerve cells called axons connecting the eye and the brain trigger tiny eye movements that stabilize our field of vision.

Now, scientists have identified the molecules that make sure these axons are wired to the exact regions of the brain. The find could help us understand eye movement disorders and could one day help regenerate damaged nerve cells to restore sight.

It’s literally “love is for the weak” 😃

“It was, like most of the rooms in the Institute, an unused bedroom, meant for visiting Shadowhunters.” - Clockwork Prince

LIKE LITERALLY ACTUALLY WTF

“All righty. I’ll leave you to it, then.” - To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.

This young man’s credentials were satisfactory, my father and my aunt (who had always looked after the children’s welfare) were satisfied, and I acquiesced. - Crooked House - Agatha Christie

“Alas! My own hand feels as light as a feather.” - The Return of the King

Oh, God.

“But strangely the first Caleb had escaped without anyone noticing and had fallen into the river.”

- The Giver by Lois Lowry

Make of that what you will.

I’m actually crying right now. Something that seemed impossible for me might actually happen in the future. I just hope this isn’t repealed by the time I feel comfortable enough in my life to transition. I know this doesn’t seem important to most people but this just gave me another reason to keep moving forward with my life. 🙏

I HOPE THIS IS A THING FOR MY AMERICAN FRIENDS AHH!!!

WOAH WAIT WHAT

IS THIS REALLY A THING

Hi guys, I’ve had this idea recently and I definitely need your help. If you start with a line and at both ends add lines such that they are perpendicular to the first one (like on the second picture) and then repeat this process infintely, you get a geometrical figure that seems rather random (not sure if it can be considered as a fractal though).

The first 3 images show the 3 first steps ; the fourth one is the result after 8 iterations, and the fifth one after 16 iterations.

Problem is that it takes hours to draw it, and I have little knowledge in programming… Could any of you do that for me, or do you know somebody that would ? I would be infinitely thankful if yes. Have a nice day !

see-plus-plus - *cough cough* may be able to give you some advice or something. he knows his stuff. I know of Python and i think its possible on C.

So I’ve managed to get a chance to sit down and write a program to do this in Octave. It follows your modified rules, where you don’t draw a line where two lines meet. It certainly isn’t random, it follows some sort of pattern.
